When I see PETA crap and people arguing for and against shelter pets (WTF?!) and all the just plainly useless and unnecessary hate and bigotry, we have a violent solution. My pit bull and I do this whole punch/belly thing to get it all out. Basically it involves me getting her right in the belly (with rubs) while she punches me in the jaw with her blockhead and licks me half to death. I think we can manufacture enough stupid in our own house rather than read it online….
Adoptable Fridays - Trulie
Trulie was rescued from Tennessee along with her four puppies. She now lives in Succasunna, NJ…

This is very very true for me. Over and over. It’s hard to teach an old human new tricks. Rocky could tell you stories….
This is really a great organization. They are only a year old and have saved over a hundred animals just in the Philly area. Started by a local Firefighter, Jen Leary, they were formed and got off the ground running without even having their own facility. They are first responders at fires and other tragic events, to ensure the animals are saved too. They need foster homes and are having a fundraiser tomorrow night to raise money for their own facility, which will be HUGE in helping their efforts and at least minimizing the middle of the night scrambling for a place to keep the scared and often injured animals (not just cats and dogs- they just recently reunited their first rescued snake with his owner!). When something this horrible happens and people lose their homes, further heartbreak is unacceptable. And now there is help. Red Paw to the rescue. Literally.
Heartwarming Tearjerker of the Day: Staff Sergeant Nick B. was on patrol in Afghanistan when he came across Bodhi tied up, covered in mud, and missing both ears and half his tail to some kind of torture.
“They were going to use him to fight other dogs as entertainment,” Nick said. “You could just tell he hadn’t been fed properly. He was really skinny and malnourished. When I saw that, it just broke my heart. I knew I had to get this dog out of here.”
Nick says the owners didn’t want to give Bodhi up, so he traded packs of cigarettes for him. Then he coordinated with the Puppy Rescue Mission to get Bodhi out of the country. The pair were reunited in Florida on Saturday.
“It’s so much better knowing I saved this dog from a life of eating scraps of trash and not knowing if he’s going to be shot,” Nick said. “I know his life will be so much better now. He’ll have a lot of land to run around on, a pool to play in, a loving family, and he’ll be fed properly and bathed. It’s an amazing feeling.”
This is awesome. Dude is hot. Not sure if he really is or because of what he did and how he tells the story is amazing. Also- CUTE Puppy! He can hear again.
Poor Bosco Needs Help
Bosco was attacked by a stray on March 28th when he managed to escape from his foster home’s yard. This sweet little angel requires serious medical attention, and has already manged to rack up the emergency clinic bill. Southern Nevada Bully Breed Rescue needs some serious help, because they are still expecting quite a bit more work to make sure Bosco can get back to his old smiling self (bandana photo). A dollar, two dollars- spare change on an old card, anything. These guys could put it to good use.
You can visit the Chip-In Fund for Bosco’s Emergency Surgery
Or to the VECC directly and let them know its for Bosco. Their number is (702) 262-7070. Please ask for Autumn.
Bosco is resting in his foster home, he will be searching for his forever home once he’s back on his feet in the Las Vegas area.
This guy needs help. Poor little beast attacked by a stray. Check his chip in and please help if you can.
This dog (see link here) is Heidi in Royal Oak, MI. She is a 5 y.o. rescued Doberman. She was greeted on the street by a pedestrian who wanted to say hi. She got excited and jumped a bit. Ended up bumping the nose of the man bending (BAD DOG GREETING BEHAVIOR) over to see her and is now being prosecuted in a BITE CASE. The guy’s nose was broken supposedly. Still. The D.A. is demanding her destruction or removal to drop CRIMINAL CHARGES. What kind of bullshit is this? Anyway, THIS LINK goes to the site that gives the details and links to the petition. It’s a very simple petition, just your name, so please do it and forward it to everyone you know. This is seriously a ridiculous case with no justification by a person who I think assumed the risk. Anyone who stops a person and wants to pet their dog has to deal with the fact that some young dogs jump when they get excited. It was a Doberman for God’s sake, they are usually so gentle when they jump. The whole thing is bullshit. Please sign. Here is the link to her site and the petition. Just sign please!!! It is urgent, decision is coming on Feb. 9, 2012.
Hi, all you animal lovers! This is pretty simple… please reblog this post! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of getting FREE FOOD donated every day to abused and neglected animals in their shelters.
It takes less than a minute (only about 15 seconds actually) to go to their site and click on the purple box titled, ‘Click Here to Give - it’s FREE!’. From one click, it gives about .6 bowls of food to sheltered dogs. You can also click daily!
Keep in mind that this does not cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here’s the web site! Please pass this along!
Please click on there (once a day if you can!). It does so much in like 10 seconds.
People suck. I mean come on. We were just at the park and Trixie was doing her thing. A little 10 week old shar pei was humping her leg and she was rolling playing with him. Then her 100 pound Golden puppy came and was laying on top of her on her back. Rocky was laying in the distance with his squeaky ball, protecting it from interlopers and puppies alike. This little fireplug lady came in with a nice young couple and a cute mixy brindle puppy (maybe pitty type mix) with huge ears. It looked like, and we found out was, a meet with potential adopters. So, everyone is talking and I asked where she was from. The little squat lady said she flew her up from GA with Pilots and Paws (awesome group) and I asked her through what rescue. She said her own, which I never heard of, which is weird. Trixie said hi to her, semi-politely. She then asked where I got Trix and I said animal control. She was like, of course, I assumed. (Annoying, but not offensive) I give people from older generations a little leeway because they grew up with dogs called mutts and lab mixes and can be wary of the whole pit bull thing. It’s not acceptable, but I leave it alone (some). And then, she is watching the little puppy trying to chew on Trixie and hump her. Trixie would eventually push him off with her nose. Then the little fat troll was like, you have to be careful with her. She won’t always be that tolerant. I was patient, like, she is fine, she is good with all kinds of dogs, super socialized and appropriate. The lady wouldn’t let go, just kept making comments about how she has experience with “that type” of dog and she knows Trixie is going to change. I kept shutting her down and was like- you don’t know my dog, not her present or her past and she will be just fine, and even great. She finally let it go and walked away. But I hate her. Just had to say it. I hate her kind. The kind who pretend to be such great rescuers and love animals but still endorse the kind of bigoted preferences that lead to so many good dogs dying. Also, no one gets to talk shit about my dogs, ever. Much less when they are being super awesomely behaved and perfectly polite. Bigoted and selective animal lovers do not sit well with me. ALSO AGAIN- she was saying this in front of people she is trying to get to adopt a puppy that she can’t guarantee A. is always going to be sweet AND B. is also maybe pit mix as well, as much as, if not more than Trixie.
Just venting, back to your regular Thursday night programming. I just want people to treat dogs like dogs and get to know them as individuals. Just like people, it comes from the same kind of ignorant place as racism and all kinds of prejudices. And it sucks.
mothtomothermoon replied to your video: And here he is, running and playing with children!I want one!
Me too, but they’re about $5000!! (I checked this morning lol.)
Seems like this one is East Coast-ish. Pig Placement Network. They also have a list of rescues nationally HERE. And if you can’t find one near you, emailing this nice lady Eileen should help. Here are the results with a ton more rescues nationally…..
